A retired human resources officer for Chase Bank, Sandy discovered Brighton products while traveling for work. She says she fell in love with Brighton's quality, style, and design process. Brighton silver, which is actually zinc dipped in silver, never tarnishes. Plus, each product—from jewelry and handbags to charms and accessories—begins as a hand-drawn sketch from Brighton's own team of designers and goes through jury review and prototype development. According to Sandy, Brighton co-founder Jerry Kohl still examines every prototype before it's approved for production.

I think the Brighton difference is in the detail, and when I had the opportunity to visit Brighton's facilities in California, I was so surprised. I think of it as a huge corporation, but it was more like an intimate, hands-on production shop with all these talented people working together on leather products, sketches, and more. It was very unique.
